Personal:

I am married and have two wonderful kids, 14 and 10.  I've been running since 1982.  I never get "basic" injuries.  I always get the real nasty career threatening kind, like stress fracture of the sacrum, ganglion cyst clamping  down on my peroneal nerve.

Today ran w/ Wabash Valley Road Runners for the Annual New Years Day run.  Ran a total of 7.5 miles.   "Warm" and sunny 36 w/ a SW breeze.  Quads are still really sore, but I actually felt pretty good.  Ran from Meadows through Deming Park, Woodridge, etc and back.

Tonight ran 7.5 mile Shrine Hill loop in a really quick 49:16. Had 25:40 half way.  Struggled in parts, ran well in others. Last mile in 6:04. A warm 41 degrees.  The Garmin lost .1 miles on the way back.  Did about 3 minutes on the Octane earlier to warm up.

Ran a pretty decent 7.5+ miles w/ Jacki from Meadows through Deming, Woodridge, etc. and back, same as Thursday, but much quicker.  7:30 pace most of the way down to about 7:15 pace the last two miles.  Left ankle and achillies tight toward the end.  Down hills are still killers for the quads.  Temp a very warm 45 although breezy.

Ran a pretty decent 12 miles w/ Jacki at Hawthorn Park.  Went through Rose-Hulman, the Golf Course and the Blair Witch Loop and more in Hawthorn Park.  It was nice to finally be able to get on the trails.  My left achillies is still bothering me on occassion.  It was finally completely comfortable about an hour in.  Temp started out kinda foggy 45, but by the time we were done, it was breezy and 36.  Total time 1:26:47.

Today did 15 minutes on the Octane.  Legs felt really fresh.  Tonight, ran 8.5 miles from the Y through Deming Park and back in a pretty quick 54:16.  Ran about 6:30ish pace most of the way with a couple of miles down around 6:10.  Felt really really good.  Unfortunately, this deal with my left achilles isn't getting any better.  It's not getting worse, but not any better either.  Feels great right now.  Temp cool 31 (to 27 shortly after sundown).

Did 40 minutes on the Octane during lunch.  Actually went 7 miles in 40 minutes.  About equivalent to 4 miles running for me.  Achilles didn't hurt, although it was tight the first 5 minutes.  I'll only be able to run tonight if all this sleet and ice melts off by this evening, otherwise I'll have to skip out and hit the Octane again.

Did another 60 minutes on the Octane tonight.  I really wanted to get out and run.  I still had some irritation, but it did feel better.  Of course it felt better, I didn't run!  But that was a tough 60 minutes.  9.5 miles.  About equivalent to 6 miles running for me. I gotta be careful with the achilles.  I've read some pretty scary stuff.

Did a really hard 30 minutes on the Octane during lunch today.  5.62 miles.  Most I've ever done in 30 minutes.  Then tonight, did 60 more minutes on the Octane.  9.5 miles in 60 minutes.  Still have a little tightness but no pain in achilles.

Did 30 minutes on the Octane during lunch today.  Felt pretty good.  Achilles no pain.  Ankle a little tight.  Tonight, did another 60 minutes on the Octane.  Felt better than I did last night.  Made it 10.12 miles in 60 minutes.  Once again, tightness in the ankle, no pain in Achilles.  May try to run 3 miles tomorrow.

Today I only managed 3 minutes on the Octane during lunch.  I was up late with work lastnight and work didn't go well today, so I was too disgusted and feeling crappy.  Tonight I took a two hour nap after I got home from work, but did manage to get out the door and run 3.25 miles tonight from home up through Howard subdivision and back.  Wish I felt better because it is beautiful out.  Full moon glowing through the clouds, a "warm" 38 degrees and no wind.  No pain in Achilles at all though.  First mile in a "rusty" and burning 7:39.  Finally got down to 6:40 pace and last mile in 6:20.

Today only did 8 minutes on the Octane during lunch.  I felt really good and started out fast, but wanted to save it for a quality workout tonight.  Glad I was fresh because the weather is supposed to get really nasty tomorrow.  Tonight, ran a semi quick 2 mile warmup from Woodrow Wilson MS to Woodridge.  Then ran 2x1 mile in 5:45 each.  Was going to try to do 6 of them, but just really struggled to do 5:45 pace.  Decided to finish up with a tempo run.  Ran 6.5 miles in 42:38 with the last 1.5 miles in 9:03.  Temp cool 35 but a 15 mph SSE breeze.  Left Achilles hurt pretty much throughout, but I think I figured it out.  My shoes are laced up too high.  I have thick ankles so I usually don't lace in the top holes, but on these shoes I have them that way.  Now it makes sense that the Achilles doesn't hurt when I stretch.  I think it's just the back pressure from the back heel of the shoe pressing so hard on my Achilles.  We'll see.  Going to take some discipline to get out the next couple of days as we're supposed to get freezing rain followed by sub-zero wind chills over the next two to three days.

Today I did the Octane really hard, 5.62 miles in 30 minutes during lunch.  Really surprising because I figured I'd be tired from yesterday's workout.  Then tonight, ran 12 miles in 1:22:12.  Had 42:12 half way.  Really surprised at how effortless it was (well, at least the first 10 miles) despite the 15F temperature and abundance of clothes I had to wear.  Had to run on the Heritage trail since the wind was out of the NW, I wanted a tail wind on the way back.  Still pain in achilles.  I think it may be that my achilles is "bruised".  No amount of stress or stretching it produces pain, but running, with the pressure from the back of my shoe, causes pain on the outside of it.  My lower legs are twitching like crazy two hours later.  Supposed to get down below 0 tomorrow night.  Gonna be tough.

Ran a pretty good workout with Jeff tonight.  Ran from Twiggs to Rose-Hulman track.  Then ran 1 mile in 5:44 (85.22,86.70,86.63,86.38).  Took 5 min. rest, then ran a 1.5 mile loop inside campus at 5:40 pace (not quite 1.5 miles).  Another 5 min rest, then another mile repeat on the track in 5:44 (84.08,87.83,87.34,85.31).  Really struggled on the last one.  Cool 38 and 20 mph SSW wind, holding off the rain.  Ran an easy 1.25 miles back to Twiggs from Rose.  Really feel good about this workout especially since I haven't done any real speedwork in a long time.  Achilles bothered me just a little on the drive home.  Throat is pretty raw from breathing the cold air so hard.  Pondering running 5 mile race in Indy this weekend to get one under my belt before the 10 miler on the 28th.  Good workout for this point in the spring road racing season.

Ran just 2 miles tonight in 13:38.  Had a really rough day at work today to cap off a really rough week.  I've been called in the middle of the night every night this week and am averaging about 5 hours a night of sleep for the week.  Hopefully it won't carry over into tomorrow's race.  Tonight, I didn't feel all that great, but I was so disgusted with work and disgusted that I couldn't run with my training buddies tonight.  Just really worn out.  Hamstrings are still a little sore from Tuesday, but just training right through these couple of next races.

Today ran the Polar Bear Run 5 Miler in Indy.  Ran really well, 29:56 for 27th overall.  Totally happy with this performance.  First race since the Marathon in December.  Achilles didn't bother me at all and hasn't bothered me after the race.  It was a warm 37 and breezy morning for the race as the snow and ice held off for a couple of hours.  Really tough running as I'm not race sharp at all.  Don't know how accurate the mile markers are, although the overall length was.  Mile splits:

1) 5:41

2) 12:02 (6:21)  Fell off big time.  Into the wind and not feeling so hot.

3) 18:24 (6:22)  Seems like the last two miles might be long at this point.

4) 24:00 (5:36)  OK, we're going down hill with a pretty decent tail wind, so this might be accurate I'm thinking.

5) 29:56 (5:56) Pace was all over the place as I went back and forth with this one tall guy.  By this time I could here Lucie Mays behind me and I'm trying to hold her off, but once again, like in the Indy Mini, she out kicks me in the last 100m.

10 Miler next week!!!

Great race. Next time kick Lucie's foot out from under her. Make sure lots of people are watching when you do it. Then after you finish, come back and taunt her. That's what I'd do.

Ran the George Rogers Clark Trace Run for the first time in 3 years.  It's the 7th year I've run it.  Today, ran it in a pretty good 1:02:21.  Today's focus was going to be mental toughness.  Going into the race, I knew that we would have the tail wind for the first 5 miles, then once we looped back around, we would have 5 miles into a steady 16 mph NNE headwind.  Course was pretty flat except for a small climb right before 2 miles.  Pretty happy with this race as my 5 mile split was just a little bit slower than last week's 5 mile race.  Could've easily gone a half marathon today.  Probably would have hit right at 1:22:00.  Not too bad w/ the conditions.  I went back and forth with this one guy from miles 6-9 as we picked off 3 runners, and then at 9 miles, I was done and he picked off one more.  Used my Garmin for the race and the mile markers were pretty much dead on.

Today ran the 181st Air Guard Enlisted Dining Out 10K in 38:41 for first place overall.  Pretty tough race.  Legs weren't completely there and had strong 20 mph SSW wind.  Windy like last weekend, but today, it was a pretty warm 71 degrees.  Tailed a duo that went out too fast and reeled them in by  1.5 miles.  The guy that was with me fell off the pace just after two miles and I was on my own the rest of the way.  Splits not too bad (6:08,6:08,6:05,6:54!,6:23,6:10,0:50). Garmin showed .14 for the last part, so course could have possibly been short.  Did about 2.5 mile warmup, then 3.75 mile cooldown.  Not to bad of a race considering I've bumped up the miles and put in two hours on the Octane this week.

Ran 3.25 miles from home up through Howard Sub. and back in a semiquick 20:49.  Legs didn't feel the best, but not too bad.  First mile in 6:57, then 6:40.  Then dropped down and did the last mile in 5:50.  I like to do that two days before a race. Light tempo race with 1 mile at race pace.  I don't plan on averaging 5:50 pace for 13.1 miles, but I'd like to hit as close to 6:00 as I can.  Weather looks like we're going to have 15 mph headwind the first 5 miles.  Gonna take some thinking on how to do this.  Do I have enough fitness level to push 6 min. pace into the wind and then hold it on the way back?

Ran the 40th Annual Sam Costa Half Marathon today in a pretty good 1:20:49.  Course was gently rolling hills and we had a steady 10 mph NE Breeze.  I was pretty much by myself in 15th place after the first 2 miles.  I had two guys that had about 30 seconds on me that I worked on for the entire race, almost picked 'em up by 11 miles, but started to struggle by then and was just hanging on.  Had severe lower GI pains almost the entire race (nothing like Grete Waitz in NYC), made it really hard to concentrate especially the last few miles.  Temp was pretty decent, 43 at the start.  Had to dump the Dollar General gloves once we had the tail wind at 5 miles.  First 5 miles were primarily into the wind.  Splits:

1) 5:54

2) 12:05 (6:11)

3) 18:17 (6:12)

4) 24:27 (6:10)

Great job dude! Why do they call it swamp stomp?

From dutterman on Tue, Apr 07, 2009 at 14:11:30 from 71.114.167.189

Hey thanks Burt. They call it the Swamp Stomp because it is a trail race at a park that has wetlands in it. Sometimes the course can get muddy in the early Spring. You know, there is also an Ultra race at this same park in Terre Haute Indiana June 13th. So, if you know anyone wanting to do an Ultra in the midwest, it's a good one. www.hawthornhalfdayrelay.com

Today ran the Indy Mini in really good time, 1:18:19.  Really strong race for me.  Ran in a pack with Travis Lozier from miles 3-8, but couldn't quite hang on the rest of the way.  Weather was ideal, a little humid, but perfect.  Some of my splits were the fastest I've done in 10 years, 5 mile, 10K, 15K and 10 mile splits were all faster than any race I've done since 2000.  Went out really hard, struggled a lot the last 3 miles, just couldn't turn the legs over.

Nice job. Impressive that this is your fastest time in 9 years at most distances! Plus, even your slowdown at the end was only 10-20 seconds per mile.

Congrats on a great race! Good job going after it today and hanging tough the last 5k. I think you will be knocking down those 5 and 10k times in races this year.

From dutterman on Sun, May 03, 2009 at 19:36:02 from 71.114.167.189

Thanks Paul. Excellent race for you! Are you from Indiana originally? Travis went to a local high school in West Terre Haute and attended and ran for Indiana State University. I believe he may have graduated from ISU around 2000 or 2001.

From paul on Sun, May 03, 2009 at 20:00:32 from 63.134.175.179

Yes, I grew up in Crawfordsville (went to Southmont High School). My parents have sinced moved to Brazil, IN, just a few minutes from Terre Haute. I thought I recognized Lozier as a former Terre Haute athlete. We would have graduated high school at about the same year. Also, a good friend of mine ran for ISU from 1996-2000, so maybe that's where the name is familar.

Hopefully, the hail didn't cause any problems. I have never ran in hail before. That has to hurt.

The rain hurt worse than the hail. And because it was so hot starting out, I was shirtless! It popped out of nowhere because I checked the radar before we headed out.

Easy MilesMarathon Pace MilesThreshold MilesVO2 Max MilesTotal Distance
1.0014.980.000.0015.98

Today ran the "Run With The Foxes" Trail Half Marathon at Morgon-Monroe State Forest.  Pretty good race.  Took the wrong turn, twice, ended up with 14.98 on the Garmin.  It may have been more than that as the Google Earth tracking on my computer shows some gaps throughout the race.  The race started out pretty slow as once we got into the woods, we were single file.  This was the only thing that kept me close to the leader.  Once we broke free from the others, I was in second and he just started to pull away and I knew there was no way I was going to be able to go with him.  We got a "lot" of rain this week in Indiana, so the course was a real muddy mess, and the streams were much wider and deeper than previous years.  I actually completely wiped out 4 times, the first time, jumping through one of the streams that was a foot deep.  I totally misjudged the bank and wiped out and landed on my right arm.  At first I thought I broke it, but it may be just a bone bruise.  It's swollen, purple and achy.  It was at three miles during an open field stretch that I last saw the leader.  At 7 miles, someone was catching me, I could hear him "landing" and "splashing" behind me.  We got to one point where we had an open stretch so I decided to really hammer it down.  I put a good 30 seconds on him in a mile before I realized that I was at some guys camp in the woods at a dead end.  I stopped and the other guy told me he hadn't seen any pink ribbons for a long time.  So we both turned around and started jogging backup up the hill I had just hauled butt down.  Got back on course, got lost again about 10 miles in and had to double back and regaining a lot of the spots we had lost.  In the meantime, I had wiped out a couple more times while pulling away from number 3.  I don't know how many spots I lost on the first "lost" trek, but at that point, I made the race between me and number 3.  Ended up with 1:54:18.  My whole body is sore.  On one of the wipeouts, I couldn't even do a single "pushup" to get back on my feet, I had to crawl my way back up.  I've got scratches and bruises everywhere from grabbing trees, etc.  Very tough race, but really glad I ran it.

Ran the Hawthorn Half Day Relay as a 2-person team with Dave Mason.  Ran pretty strong up through 27 miles, then started struggling from there on.  Then on my 12th lap started cramping severely.  Took 44:46 to walk that 5K and when I finished everything severely cramped up and I was done for the day.  Dave ended up running the last 2 hours 48 minutes by himself, getting 46+ miles to give us 83.1 miles for 2nd in our division.  Left knee didn't pose a problem at all.  My calfs are still twitching.  I was hydrating and fueling well, but apparantly OJ and gatorade don't supply the right amount and kinds of electrolytes.  My first Ultra.  Thinking it may be a long time before I ever attempt something like this again, but I do think I can still do well in a marathon.  Going to take some time off.  Been training hard non-stop since February.

Woo Hoo! My first post-ultra workout today.  I had doubts about even trying a workout.  It was a hot and humid 90 degrees.  Went to Hawthorn Park and ran an easy warmup with some of the WVRR club who just ran Grandma's this past weekend.  Then did 5x1000m on the trails, starting out slow, wondering what would come of it, but turned out pretty good (3:48,3:42,3:36,3:32,3:30).  Then did a 2 mile cooldown w/ the calfs wanting to cramp up on me.  Big boost here.  Going to jump into some local 5Ks over the next few weeks including this weekend.  Shooting for my first race as a Masters runner at the "Personal Best 5 Miler" in Indy on August 8th.

Ran a semiquick 7.5 miles tonight from home via Shrine Hill loop and back in 49:37.  Had 26:47, so really picked it up on the way back.  First mile on way back was 5:50, but couldn't hold it, so hovered right at 6:10 the rest of the way w/ the last mile in 6:05.  Temp cool, yet humid, 74.  A little tired from driving today.  Didn't get up and run in the morning because we were in Tinley Park.  Just a little too much concrete and traffic for me in a place I don't know...  Easy 6-8 tomorrow and then Perrysville 5K as a workout Saturday.

Got up and ran the Perrysville 5K this morning in pretty good time 18:04 for second place.  Was in 5th at the mile, 4th at the turn around point and reeled in Cole Jeffries (who beat me in this race 3 years ago) just after 2 miles.  He through in about 3 or 4 surges, but I was able to keep getting him back to finish 2nd.  Winner got about 14 seconds on me, which he had 18 on me at the turn around.  Splits not too bad (5:45,5:58,5:45).  Course was just a tad long, probably about 15 seconds long.  Not too bad since the legs weren't all that fresh this morning.  Temp was cool, in the 60s but humid.  Later this afternoon, ran the same 6 miles with Jacki that we ran yesterday in 44:05, a little quicker than yesterday.

We since moved here from CO, we live in the Indianapolis area-- which trails are you referring to? My husband is a big trail runner and is a little depressed since moving to IN with no trail running. Any advice for trail running?

Hi! The trails I run on are in Terre Haute. I'm not really familiar with the parks in Indianapolis, but you might try the DINO website at http://www.dinoseries.com/index.html. I know they put on races on trails and they may be more familiar with the parks in the Indy area. Running on the trails makes a big difference for me in my training. Good luck!

Totally exhausted from work.  Only got 3 hours of sleep and stressed out today.  Tonight went to WW to do 400s.  Ended up doing a 4.5 mile warmup because I felt so crappy.  Started out slow, but went about 6:40 pace the rest of the way w/ last mile in 6:28.  Then tried to do the workout.  Managed only 4 400s (82,79,79,81).  Knew I wasn't going to make the whole workout. The legs are just too sore for the fast stuff.  Figured I'd end it with 8x200m but only made it two of those (37,38).  Bailed on the track work and salvaged the workout with the same 4.5 miles that I warmed up with, but did it in a pretty quick 29:08 with the last two miles in 5:50 and 6:02.  Really weird that I could hold 6 minute pace for that long, but couldn't make 12x400m at 5:20 pace.   S'well.  The miles are catching up a little.  I think a lot of it was getting called at 3:15 this morning for work...  Temp a little warm, 80, but humidity is gone.

Wow two races in one day! The NCAA course is tough especially if wet so that is a great result.

Ran a pretty good 13 miles w/ Jacki, same course as last Sunday, 1:34:44.  Temp was cool, 62.  Very nice out.  Legs felt pretty good.  Hamstrings are sore from yesterday.  Rose-Hulman was having Freshmen-O today, and I got a free drink of Mountain Dew from their Pepsi stand w/ just under a mile to go.  It was soooo good.  This puts me over 300 miles in one month for the first time ever.

Tonight ran an awesome 7.5 miles from home to Shrine Hill loop and back in a pretty quick 49:21.  Had 26:22 half way.  First mile legs were pretty beat up, but then felt great and was effortlessly running 6:50 pace.  When I got to the top of Shrine Hill (half way point), I stretched and then took off with a 6:11 mile, then 6:15, then dropped down even more to finish w/ the last mile in 5:39!  Really didn't expect the legs to have such good response after this weekend.  But the weather has been cool and I've had decent sleep the past two nights.  What a difference.  Glad I moved this weeks workout to Wednesday night.  Need to get back on track and break 18:00 at Little Italy this Saturday. 317.5 miles for the month of August.  Most miles I've ever run in a month.

Today Austin had his first CC meet for Otter Creek Middle School.  Cool.  After the meet, went to WW MS track to do Yasso 800s.  Ran 4.5 mile warmup from WW through Deming Park with the Woodridge add-on since legs were feeling kinda beat up.  Then ran 10x800m w/ 2:00 rest in pretty decent times (2:59,2:51,2:47,2:45,2:49,2:46,2:44,2:45,2:48,2:50).  Hamstrings and calfs kept wanting to cramp up on me on the last two.  On the last one, had 1:22 at the 400, but really fell apart.  It was all I could do to jog a 1 mile cooldown.  Closed the track tonight!!!

Ran The Blues At The Crossroads Half Marathon today in a pretty decent 1:19:50 for 2nd overall.  Pretty tough course, but handled it pretty well.  Temp cool 59 at the start and a little humid, but good conditions.  Fighting some pretty bad lung congestion as I came down with a cold when I was in Bolingbrook earlier this week.  Explains why legs were completely dead for two days.  Went out the first mile with eventual winner Tim Monaghan in 5:47 and had to let him go, I wasn't going to maintain that today!  Splits:

1 5:47

2 11:40 (5:53)

3: 17:37 (5:57)

4 23:36 (5:59) roughly 45 seconds off the lead at this point and only about 20 seconds on 3rd

5 29:48 (6:12)

6 35:58 (6:10) wondering at this point if I was going to break 1:20

7 42:02 (6:04)

8 48:13 (6:11)

9 54:27 (6:14)

10 1:00:53 (6:26) Hitting the hills now!  Trying to accelerate on the down hills to hold off 3rd place

11 1:07:16 (6:23)

12 1:13:27 (6:11)

13 1:19:39 (6:12)

F 1:19:48.  Splits are off my Garmin rather than course markers.  Garmin was dead on right through 4 miles, then it started to lose.  Others in the race had 13.08+ on their Garmins.  No problems at all with the left groin muscle.

Excellent effort, but work week really got in the way, and there's things I really need to be working on.

This morning ran the Crossroads of America 30K.  Didn't do so well.  I was taking a chance with not being able to train properly for the past 2 weeks and didn't feel all that great today.  Legs felt really good (after 4 miles), but had severe GI problems.  Knew things were going to be rough when the legs were burning and struggling to hit 6:10 on the first mile. Had to make an emergency bathroom pitstop just before 9 miles to deal with GI problem.  After that, I felt jittery, nauseus, and hands and face started tingling if I tried to dip back down to 6:15 pace...  Pretty disgusted as I lost 5 spots in the last 3 miles.  Two bad races in a row dealing with a long cold and sleep deprivation from work the past 2+ weeks.  I was so disgusted afterward, I walked back to my car and left.  Going to have to regroup and see if I have any Fall racing left in me.  Splits:

1) 6:06

2) 12:07 (6:01)

3) 18:19 (6:12) Wondering why 6:12 pace feels so rough today.  Dumped the shirt.  It's only 58 degrees and I'm burning up.

4) 24:27 (6:08)

5) 30:45 (6:18) Finally by myself, 20 seconds out of 3rd place

6) 37:03 (6:18) Still struggling but OK with current pace

7) 43:19 (6:16) Feeling pretty decent, just maintaining the 20 second "string" on the next guys back

8) 49:32 (6:13) Heading downhill trying to chip away at this guy.  Stomach and GI is really really getting out of hand.

9) 55:51 (6:19) Still holding position, starting to wonder about the bathrooms

10) 1:03:14 (7:23) See a port-a-pot right after 9 mile marker, bail the course.  Stopped for 90 seconds according to the Garmin, lost 2 spots, ran 5:57 pace to reclaim my two spots

11) 1:09:55 (6:41) Getting nauseus and jittery after the bathroom stop

12) 1:16:23 (6:28) Getting a little concerned about how I feel.

13) 1:23:00 (6:37) 3rd place guy is pulling away

14) 1:29:34 (6:34) Monster hills to deal with

15) 1:36:32 (6:58) Heading downhill, trying to take advantage of it, down at 5:40 pace, but once again, dizziness, had to slow down and "jog"

16) 1:43:19 (6:47) (Lost another spot)

17) 1:50:53 (7:34) Dropped down to 6:15 pace to challenge another person passing me, sure enough, only 20 seconds in and I'm getting nauseus.  Stop and walk for a minute, wondering if I was even going to finish.  Getting cold chills at this point.

18) 1:57:46 (6:53) Lose 2 more spots and fall to 8th place.

Sorry the race didn't go as planned and you had all the GI problems. I had that cold and it takes a lot out of you plus takes a long time to get over. I think after you recover and get some good rest you will be right back on track and be able to hit your fall racing goals.

Tonight, did 60 minutes on the Octane.  Made it to 10.0 miles this time by picking it up the last 30 minutes.  Had a headache but managed.  Didn't have any pain or irritation during.  About 90 minutes afterward, had a little irritation and pain.  Stretched lightly.  Still probably looking at least a few more weeks before I can try to run again.

Good job of cross-training. Hope that you are able to get back to running soon. It looks like you are being very smart about getting healed before running again.

Legs are getting a little sore.  Just intermittent bouts of irritation a couple of times today.  So, still making slow, but good progress and most issues now are just irritation and tightness in the general area, including piriformis.

No running today.  Yesterday morning as I got into the car, I felt pain in my adductor, original pain in the original location when I first got injured.  So, didn't do anything at all yesterday except stretching.  So, tonight, did 99 minutes on the Octane.  No pain during workout whatsoever.  Will see how it feels in the morning.  Really really tough doing the Octane tonight.  Going 99 minutes was kind of accepting "it's going to be a while..." rather than an off-day 30 minute workout...

Ran a really tough 6.5 miles from home down around Collet Park and back in 47:50.  Started out feeling pretty decent, first mile in 7:11, then hit the marathon wall just 10 minutes in and struggled to jog in the rest of the way.  Pretty disgusted but did make the whole run with no adductor pain.  Piriformis is still giving me problems.  Temp pretty cool 32 at sundown.  A couple of hours later, still no pain, so we'll see what it feels like in the morning.

Did not run yesterday and won't be doing anything today either.  Things felt OK all day yesterday except my piriformis.  Then I attempted to do the Octane, but just didn't feel well, so only did like 3 minutes on it, called it a day.  Later in the evening about 11:30, adductor started feeling really irritated and it just got worse as the night went through.  Kept me up until 5 am, still hurts today, but not as much.  It hurt worse last night than it did when I first injured it.  Primary pain was near middle of my femur, like it was when I first injured it.  I'm wondering if it really isn't a stress fracture or stress reaction now...  Just don't understand why it would take 30 hours after I had last run for any pain to show up, and the way it did...
